DIY Pet Paw Ornament

I can't believe the holidays are practically here. But I am excited though. I just found out that most of my family from California will be traveling to Utah this year for thanksgiving so I can't wait. I also realized that I will be hosting about 10 to 15 people at my house, yikes! Wish me luck! So you know I have already started to make my grocery list of all the things I will need for Thanksgiving dinner. I have people to please so I don't want to procrastinate on this!

I headed to my local grocery store, Kroger, because it is the closest and I always save a ton when shopping there. Also, when I do shop there it helps out Addis school. So anyway, I was looking at all the different items I will need for our dinner and I walked passed the pet isle, and Addi reminded me that I was forgetting about Ro and Lola ( our pup and kitty ). How could I forget about them!? They need to eat also, duh! I forgot to add that to my list of things. But thankful for my shopping buddy, Addi, who never lets me forget about our furry friends. Food and snacks are things I always have to have in stock for them at home. So I needed to grab those before I forgot again, because I will only get more busy as the holidays get closer.

Kroger has all the items you need for you pets. I don't have to worry about going to different pet stores to get what our Ro and Lola need. I grab everything from the kitty litter to dog treats at Kroger. I have always bought Purina brand dry dog food for our Ro, he loves it. Specially the new reformulated Purina's Beneful IncrediBites recipe!  And for Lola, Fancy Feast Purely and a few snacks for each too. Purina has a range of dog and cat snacks like Beggin' Strips and  Purina DentaLife, Friskies Party Mix and Whisker Lickin's. No matter what Purina brand food or treats you pick for your pets Kroger will be sure to have both, food and snacks that your pets are sure to love. Don't forget to spread holiday love to your furry friends with the help of Purina! Now through the end of November, take advantage of great savings on your favorite Purina pet products available at Kroger with this Coupons.com link, while supplies last.

How else am I suppose to show my pets how much they mean to me!? I already get them the food they love.

Then that got me thinking!

Since the Holidays are coming quick and I will start to decorate soon, like bringing out the Christmas tree, Why don't I make Ro and Lola something a little special?! So I decided to make them each their own personalized tree ornament. Cute, right? Check out this easy diy.

DIY Pet Paw Ornaments

You will need:
1 cup salt
1 cup flour
1/2 cup water
Mixing bowl
A straw
Holiday Ribbon
Baking pan
Paint (optional)

Step 1
Combine salt and flour in your bowl. Gradually add in the water, you can always add more but you can't take away. Using your hand, knead until dough forms.
Step 2
Roll the dough into a nice round flat shape, about the size of your hand. This makes enough for about two ornaments, if you are using it for more than 1 pet. Keep the dough thick enough to make the print. If it is too thin it wont look as good.
Step 3
Place dough on the baking pan and press paw into dough. ( don't let your pets eat the dough!) Repeat this step if you are doing multiple ornaments.
Step 4
Once you have your desire shape and print, get your straw and punch a hole at the top. This is where you will place your ribbon through to hang.
Step 5
In your baking dish, you can either bake the dough at 200 degrees for about an hour or just let it set overnight. After you have let it dry you can also paint the ornament and add your pets name and the year to make it more personalized.

And that is it. So easy and you can also gift these. Addi loved helping me out and couldn't wait to hang them up.

XO, Rachel
